UniClean Products Inc. Has been dedicated to formulating environmentally safe solvent substitutes since 1991. We have successfully replaced hazardous solvents with our aqueous cleaners in a variety of waste clean up problems ranging from oils and diluents to PCB's. Our products present technically feasible alternatives to toxic, ozone depleting solvents. We have documented results showing equivalent or superior cleaning performance. All of our products are formulated with the highest grade of ingredients available. We also offer custom formulations. If a customer needs a PH adjusted or an anti-foaming agent we will custom blend to your specifications. Our Aqueous Cleaners effectively dissolve greases, oils, synthetic oils and hydraulic fluids and animal fats as well as oil, water & soy based inks, lubricants, cosmoline, and many other difficult soils. The follwing is a partial list of applications.
In June 1992, President Bush unilaterally directed the production phase out date for chlorofluorocarbons(CFCs), halons, carbon tetrachloride, and methyl chloroform be moved from 2000-2005 to December 31, 1995. In November 1992, the Montreal Protocol Nations agreed to the earlier phase out date, if changed to January 1, 1996. This change came about due in part to new NASA measurment data showing accelerated ozone depletion over North America far in excess of original predictions. Alkaline cleaning solutions can be formulated without the use of sodium hydroxides, like other alkaline metal hydroxides, they lack the good buffering capacity of, for example, carbonates, and is very corrosive. A solution at a PH of between 8 and 13 is generally used to remove oils and greases and other carbonaceous soils. As a rule, alkaline cleaning solutions do not need the same level of attention that are required of acidic cleaners. Nonetheless, they must be periodically monitored and adjusted for concentration and soil loading. Uniclean VII employs both physical and chemical means to clean. Chemical action occurs via saponification of certain contaminates. Physical cleaning occurs via wetting and emulsification provided by surfactants. As Emulsifiers, certain surfactants take advantage of optimum balance of polar "hydrophilic" and non-polar "hydrophobic" groups they posses. The presence of Colloids also enhances the cleaning process. Colloids are sub-microscopic particles called micelles. These are electrically charged and therfore repel each other in their ceaseless random movement. Colloids in liquid solution measure 0.000,000.01 centimeters and cannot be seen with the most powerful microscope. But they reflect light that can be detected by an electron microscope. Colloidal micelles can be measured with a device called an ultracentrifuge, which uses inertia and centrapetal force to seperate them according to weight.
Hazardous Material SpillsHazardous material spills can be cleaned up safely using UniClean as a decontamination solution. UniClean is not a VOC and thus reduces the risk of combustion when cleaning up contaminates like VOC's, PCB's Diesel fuel, and other hazardous contaminates. A PCB contamination at the California Department of Corrections, San Luis Obispo Men's Colony contained PCB levels as high as 930,000 PPM. After triple washing with Uniclean diluted with water at a three to one ratio, post testing laboratory results show the PCB concentrations where reduced to .027 PPM, well below the EPA guidelines. Good for confined space clean ups like concrete vaults, ducts and tanks. Reduces the possibilty of explosive environments in confined spaces caused by using decontamination solutions like xylene, hexane, kerosene, or isopropyl alcohol. See our client testimony.
Soil washing solutions. Environmentally safe, aqueous based. UniClean
VII
Concentrate, diluted at a ratio of 6 to 1, has been successfully tested
in a
soils washing pilot program. Pretest soil samples had background levels
as high
as 5,000 PPM of diluents(VOC's). After the pilot cleaning protocol
was
completed, soil samples tested showed levels well below 50 PPM

The storage of materials in tanks, both above and below ground, occasionally need to be cleaned. In the past VOC's have been used for this possibly hazardous task. The potential for an explosive environment inside the tank or bilge is possible. Using UniClean VII as a cleaning solution greatly reduces the risk of explosion. UniClean contains no VOC's and will not contribute to explosive environments. Always dispose of waste in accordance with your local and federal regulations.
